PRN Urgent Care PA needed in Boise area
Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers primary and urgent care services to patients of all ages in a broad-spectrum rural family practice setting. This role provides continuity of care, addressing health needs ranging from preventive and primary care to emergency care for acute and chronic conditions. The APP will exercise sound clinical judgment within the scope of their licensure and collaborate with physicians as needed to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Principal Functions and Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Patient Evaluation:
Perform physical exams and assess the physical and psychosocial health of patients, taking comprehensive health histories.Diagnosis and Treatment:
Diagnose, treat, and manage common medical conditions, injuries, and diseases within the APP’s scope of practice. Refer to a physician or specialist when necessary.Documentation & Medical Records:
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient information, medical history, clinical assessments, treatment plans, and any interventions for medical necessity.Prescribing and Medication Management:
Prescribe medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other treatments as needed to prevent or treat diseases.Preventive Health:
Provide preventive health advice and services based on patient needs, considering individual, cultural, and environmental factors.Ordering Diagnostics & Lab Tests:
Order and interpret lab studies, x-rays, ECGs, and other diagnostics, in accordance with the Delegation of Services.Supervision and Guidance of Clinical Staff:
Oversee and provide guidance to clinical staff (RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs, etc.) as appropriate, ensuring quality care and patient safety.Patient-Centered Care:
Promote a patient-centered model of care, always acting within the APP's scope of competence and referring cases outside of the APP’s expertise to the appropriate specialist.Patient Education:
Advise patients and their families on diet, exercise, hygiene, and disease prevention strategies.Confidentiality & Safety:
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure a safe clinic environment by identifying and reporting hazards.Quality & Compliance Participation:
Participate in organizational programs for quality improvement, infection prevention, risk management, and patient safety.Policy and Procedure Participation:
Contribute to the development and review of clinic policies and procedures, ensuring high standards of care.Documentation & Paperwork:
Complete necessary documentation, including supporting claims and maintaining accurate patient health records for transfer as required.Professional Development:
Stay current with continuing education and regulatory requirements to maintain clinical competencies.Other Duties:
Perform other duties as required to support the clinic’s needs.
Position Qualifications:
Licensure:
Current, unrestricted licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Idaho.Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- DEA Certificate (without restrictions)
- Advanced certifications (PALS, ACLS, NRP) as required for practice.
Experience & Skills:
- Ability to manage acute, chronic, and complex health conditions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-based care environment.
- Understanding of professional scope of practice and the ability to work within these parameters.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality care and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to work with diverse patient populations and adapt to changing clinical needs.

Working Conditions:
- Environment: Primarily an in-clinic setting, providing services in a rural family practice.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform routine clinical procedures, including standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and interacting with patients of various ages and conditions.
