Key Qualifications:
- Prior Experience: 5+ years of experience in electrical construction or estimating, or a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management/Engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Word, BluBeam, Accubid, AutoCAD, and estimating software. Knowledge of construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Leadership Potential: Ability to lead and mentor junior estimators and work effectively in a team environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Electrical Construction Industry with the ability to develop accurate and competitive project cost estimates.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong math/accounting skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and problem-solving abilities.

General Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial Electrical Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of competitive proposals and estimates for high-profile commercial projects that have a lasting impact on the community. As an estimator, you'll work alongside senior estimators and engineers to analyze project plans, perform quantity take-offs, and craft winning strategies to ensure accurate and competitive cost estimates.
Responsibilities:
- Estimate and Analyze: Conduct a thorough analysis of construction drawings and specifications to gather necessary information for project estimates.
- Cost Estimation: Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors, and develop detailed cost estimates, including unit pricing, for review by senior estimators.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with the Senior Estimator to refine estimates and help formulate overall project strategies.
- Leadership: Mentor and train Junior Estimators, offering hands-on leadership to foster their professional growth.
- Project Involvement: Participate in design-assist project stages, ensuring alignment with client goals and specifications.
- Jobsite Visits: Visit project sites periodically to gain firsthand knowledge and ensure accurate estimation.
- Meet Deadlines: Work within tight deadlines, ensuring all estimates are completed on time and meet project specifications.
Skills & Abilities:
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using Excel, BluBeam, Accubid, and other construction-related software. Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Industry Experience: Deep understanding of the Electrical Construction Industry and the ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Capable of leading and supporting a team, providing guidance and training to junior team members.
- Effective Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional time management and organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and math/accounting skills for accurate cost estimation and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in electrical estimating or construction management is a plus. Ability to read and interpret construction plans/specs.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in Excel, Word, BluBeam, Accubid, AutoCAD, and project management software. Experience with estimating and scheduling software is beneficial.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred, but 5+ years of experience in electrical construction may substitute for the degree.
