Must-Haves:

  • Experience: Minimum 4+ years in manual machining
  • Manual Milling: Proficient in facing, boring, drilling, and tapping
  • Manual Lathes: Skilled in turning, boring, and single-point threading
  • Measurement Tools: Familiar with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read blueprints and perform basic trigonometry
  • Testing: Ability to pass Tool Maker A written and physical tests
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Job Description:

The Tool Maker will plan, construct, alter, and repair a variety of tools, jigs, prototypes, and fixtures using manual and CNC machine tools. Responsibilities include working from prints, sketches, and CAD software.

Job Duties:

  • Plan and layout job assignments, determining machining operations and allowances.
  • Perform complex machine operations to maintain close tolerances, including heat treating and assembly.
  • Troubleshoot tools, diagnose issues, and recommend modifications.
  • Set up, program, and operate EDM and complex CNC machines.
  • Report design errors and collaborate with the Engineering Department.
  • Assist in training lower-graded tool makers.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to refine tooling and prototypes.
  • Utilize a range of manual and CNC tools, precision measuring instruments, and other equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of manual machining experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in manual milling and lathe operations
  • Experience with precision measuring tools
  • Strong skills in blueprint reading and basic math
  • Ability to pass Tool Maker A written and physical tests
